The Spanish Constitutional and Sociocultural Knowledge Test (CCSE) is a compulsory test for foreigners wishing to obtain Spanish nationality. This test assesses knowledge of the Spanish constitution, system of government, legislation and culture. It is administered by the Instituto Cervantes and is designed to ensure that applicants for nationality have a basic understanding of Spain’s constitutional values and institutions.
What does the CCSE test consist of?
The test is divided into two main areas:
1. Government, legislation and citizen participation in Spain:
– Questions on the Spanish constitution, the system of government, the institutions of the State and the rights and duties of citizens.
– Aspects related to Spanish legislation and how the electoral system works.
2. Spanish culture, history and society:
– Questions on geography, culture, traditions, symbols, and daily life in Spain.
– Questions related to the economy, demography and territorial organisation of the country.
Test format
The CCSE test consists of 25 multiple-choice or true/false multiple-choice questions. To pass the test, at least 60% of the questions must be answered correctly (15 correct answers). The duration of this test is 45 minutes.
